'RnB' Music Video Research

From analysing severeal different 'RnB' videos one thing I have noticed is many of the music videos share similar or nearly the same conventions. Many 'RnB' videos use typical iconography's to represent the title or moral of their song. Many use typical bedroom scenes, shopping scenes, scenes where usually the main character is socialising on a social network like Facebook or Myspace.

Bobby Valentino's 'Turn the Page' video uses conventions which has inspired us as a group. This song can be linked into our song 'If I Had My Way' as the storyline consist of the same kind of plot. If you just analyse the title, 'Turn the Page' it is evident the title is referring to someone having to move on and start fresh. This can be compared to our title, 'If I Had My Way' our character is being portrayed as someone who doesn't really want to move on and turn the page if she had things her way.

We have chosen to also use some of these typical conventions in our music video as this will allow our video to fit into the 'RnB' genre. Our video will start with a boy socialising on Facebook. We will also have a couple shopping in the local town. Both these can be evidently seen in many 'RnB' music videos.
